About & sources
The Food Brief is an automated brief on personal finance. A scheduled job reads the feeds listed below, merges any stories that several outlets are covering into a single entry, and writes a short summary in our own words. We never reproduce the publisher's article text — every entry links straight to the original reporting, and headlines remain the property of the publisher.
Editorial rules
- Short original summaries only (target 45 words), plus a one-line "why it matters".
- Automatic check that no twelve-word span is shared with the source text.
- New stories can be held for review before they appear.
- Corrections, removals and takedown requests: see the contact below — we act on them promptly.
Advertising
Sponsored placements are labelled "Sponsored" and are never styled to look like editorial. They are limited to one unit per five feed items, one per story and one sidebar unit, and no pop-ups or interstitials are used. Ads link to CrowdfundShowcase listings and are marked as such.
How this site works, and why it is not a recipe site
There is no reason for an aggregator to publish recipes. The blogs that write them win on the recipe itself — the method, the photographs, the ratings — and republishing someone else’s instructions is a copyright problem rather than an editorial one. So this site covers what actually aggregates in food: safety, recalls, chains, groceries and the food business.
- We do not publish recipes, methods, ingredients or cooking times. Recipe-shaped content is filtered out automatically.
- On a recall we state the product, the brand, the lot or date codes, the hazard and the remedy exactly as the reporting does, and we never generalise a recall to a wider range of products.
- Every price, store count and sales figure comes from the sources. We do not estimate them.
- A company’s statement about itself is attributed to the company.
- We do not give nutrition or health advice. Food trends are not evidence for a health claim, and that subject belongs elsewhere.
- Rankings, taste tests and “viral food” pieces are capped below the front page, because they are traffic rather than news.
